Understanding the design breif

Depending on your exam board you will either be given a choice of design breifs or have to write your own.

It is essential as designers that we understand the brief inside out as this is the key to producing a product that suite the design intent.

When wirting your project folder it is essential that you show the brief near the beginning of your folder, this shows not only that you are already thinking about the brief but that you are responding to it also.

It is a good idea to highlight the keywords in your brief so that when refering to it you can quickly remind youself of the main points.

Talk Task:
Discuss with a friend your choice of design brief
Make notes in your book as needed about any good concepts or thoughts you have during your discussion that may help you develop your design ideas or methods of production. Develop your design ideas or methods of production.

Main Task:

Use your notes and discussion from Task 1 to fill out the writing frame for your introduction, make sure you explain each statement you make. E.g. I have chosen to use 380 gsm card because it is thin and strong enough to hold my CDs.
